Visual inspection assistance

Image-based assistance can pre-screen or highlight candidate defects on blade, weld or coating surfaces; a competent inspector confirms the finding against the physical part or a defined evidence standard.

Pre-screening changes what an inspector looks at first, not whether they look; a screened-out area should remain sampled at a defined rate to catch systematic blind spots.

Lighting, angle and surface condition materially affect image-based performance; evaluate on the actual site conditions, not only on curated reference images.

PUT THIS INTO PRACTICE

  1. 01Keep a defined sampling rate on screened-out areas.
  2. 02Evaluate under actual site lighting and surface conditions.
  3. 03Keep the inspector as the accept/reject authority.
