SITUATION
A blade arrives at a receiving inspection with visible surface damage. The quality engineer must determine, before accepting a warranty or transport-insurance claim, whether the damage originated in manufacturing or occurred in transit, and the two claims go to different parties with different evidence requirements.
EVIDENCE
Transport telemetry (shock, tilt and temperature logging) for the specific blade's shipment, the manufacturing-release inspection record for that serial number, and the receiving-inspection photographs and damage description.
AI APPROACH
Retrieval and deterministic comparison correlate the transport telemetry's shock events by location and timestamp against the damage's physical position on the blade, and check whether the manufacturing-release record already noted an anomaly at that location, surfacing the correlation as a candidate explanation for the engineer to weigh.
KEY CONTROLS
The correlation is reported as supporting evidence for a determination, never as the determination itself; the tool states plainly when telemetry is missing or incomplete for the shipment rather than treating absence of a shock event as proof of no transit damage.
VALIDATION MEASURES
Check the correlation logic against a set of past claims with a known, already-adjudicated origin (manufacturing versus transit) to confirm it points the same direction a human investigation reached before it is used on a live claim.
HUMAN DECISION
